But sometimes life happens.
When I look at 2009, that’s the year where it’s almost as if someone drew a line in my life – before and after. That was the year we had a bomb go off in our everyday lives, and after that we had to start making a new normal.
And new normals are not easy.
I honestly believed I’d never write again. Back in February 2015, I even told a friend who asked that I was finished writing, that that particular season in my life was over. And by the summer of 2015, I was finishing Gone From Me, my May 2016 release.
So life is crazy like that, sending us all the things we don’t expect, good and bad.
Yes, 2009 and the aftermath were pretty bad, but I can’t say I’d go back and not live through those really dark days. I’m a different person, a better person, than I was then, and a lot of that growth is tied to those challenging days and weeks and months. I’m hoping some of that growth shows in my new work. I’m excited to be releasing not only one but three titles this year.
I’m in a new season in my life, an unexpected season, and writing has been restored to me.
Life is pretty good.
